About the Event

The 2 day CDIO Europe, UK & Ireland Regional Meeting 2026 brings together engineering educators, researchers, and academic leaders to explore innovative approaches to authentic learning and assessment.

The CDIO approach is grounded in developing professional practice and employability skills, and this event will explore:

• Real-world learning experiences
• Assessment strategies that reflect professional practice
• Enhancing employability through CDIO principles

A highlight of the event will be the Monday afternoon visit and tour of the historic Hatfield House followed by a 3 course evening meal in Hatfield House’s magnificent hall.

Keynote Speakers & Featured Sessions

Details of keynote speakers and sessions will be announced shortly. Expect thought-provoking talks, interactive workshops, and collaborative discussions led by leading voices in engineering education.

Registration

💳 Fees: £295

This includes:

• Morning and Afternoon Refreshments on both days
• Lunch Both Days
• Tour and Dinner at Hatfield House (Monday Afternoon / Evening)
• Transport between UH and Hatfield house

Delegates will need to book their own accommodation and transport to the UH College Lane Campus.

Venue Information

The event will be held at the SPECTRA Building, a state-of-the-art facility on the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus.

Accommodation & Travel

Hatfield is well-connected via train and road, with nearby airports including London Luton and Heathrow.

Delegates will need to book their own accommodation and transport to the UH College Lane Campus, postcode AL10 9AB.

Suggested options are:

• Hotels in Hatfield (Approx 5-10 minute taxi ride to UH Campus).
• Hotels in historic St Albans (Approx 20 minutes taxi ride to UH Campus).

There are more cultural and dining attractions in St. Albans: delegates planning to take in some sight-seeing of London or eating out in the days preceding (or after) the event may wish to consider staying in St. Albans.

Both St. Albans and Hatfield have fast rail connections to London (approx. 20 – 30 minutes) away if delegates wish to visit London in the days before or after the event.

Unfortunately most local Hotels in Hatfield are not in walking distance from the campus, considering the weather in January, so budgeting for a taxi is advised.
